Ola Electric Unveils Krutrim AI and AI Chip Plans at Sankalp 2024

Date:

Ola, one of India’s leading tech giants, made significant announcements at its annual community event, Sankalp 2024, held on August 15 at the Ola Campus in Bengaluru.

The event was a showcase of Ola’s latest advancements in AI, electric vehicles, and digital services. A key highlight was the introduction of Krutrim, Ola’s AI virtual assistant, which will soon be integrated into Ola Electric scooters as part of the MoveOS5 operating system.

This beta version is expected to roll out by the end of October, aligning with the Diwali festivities.

Krutrim AI Integration with Ola Electric Scooters

Ola’s CEO, Bhavesh Aggarwal, revealed that Krutrim would enhance the user experience for Ola Electric scooter owners, offering a more intuitive and intelligent interface.

The AI-powered assistant will enable users to interact with their scooters through voice commands, providing real-time updates, navigation assistance, and more.

This integration is poised to set a new standard for AI in electric vehicles, further solidifying Ola’s position as a pioneer in the industry.

AI Customer Care and Developer Apps

In addition to Krutrim’s integration with Ola Electric scooters, Aggarwal announced the launch of Krutrim’s AI Customer Care app. This app, designed to automate customer service operations, supports 22 Indian languages and can be deployed by enterprises within a day.

Ola Electric and Ola Cabs are already utilizing this technology, making it likely that customers will be interacting with AI agents during their service calls.

Aggarwal also introduced Bhashik, another AI developer app by Krutrim. Bhashik is a multimodal language hub that can translate videos into multiple languages, facilitating content accessibility.

Ola Krutrim’s translation API is already being leveraged by Unacademy, a leading edtech startup, to enhance its language learning app. This showcases the practical applications of Ola’s AI technology across various sectors.

Upcoming AI Features and Expansion into Chip Manufacturing

Ola Krutrim is also set to introduce an advanced image recognition feature later this year. This feature was teased during the event, highlighting Ola’s commitment to continuous innovation in AI.

Earlier this year, Ola Krutrim achieved a significant milestone by becoming India’s first AI unicorn, securing $50 million in funding and reaching a valuation of $1 billion. Building on this success, Ola is now venturing into AI chip manufacturing.

The company is in the process of designing a silicon chip named Bodhi 1, which will cater to advanced Large Language Models (LLMs) and vision models, with production expected to begin by 2026.

Additionally, Ola is planning a second chip, Bodhi 2, which will support models with over 10 trillion parameters and is slated for release by 2028.

Enhancements to Ola Maps and New E-Commerce Tools

Ola Maps, the company’s mapping platform, is also receiving significant upgrades. The platform’s API for developers is being expanded to cover over 95% of use cases in routing, places, maps, and tiles, along with Software Development Kits (SDKs). These enhancements will make Ola Maps a more versatile and powerful tool for developers and users alike.

Another exciting development announced at Sankalp 2024 is the introduction of an AI-driven e-commerce tool called Shopping Co-pilot. This tool aims to deliver a personalized and interactive shopping experience, leveraging AI to assist users in making informed purchase decisions.

Currently, Ola offers food and grocery delivery services on the government-backed Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), and the company plans to expand its offerings to include more categories soon.

Ola Pay and Ola Coin – New Financial Services

To further strengthen its ecosystem, Ola has launched Ola Pay, a Unified Payments Interface (UPI) app that allows users to pay for rides, food, and groceries seamlessly.

Complementing this is Ola Coin, a new customer loyalty program where users can earn rewards for every transaction they make on Ola’s platforms. Currently living in Bengaluru, Ola Coin is expected to roll out to other cities shortly, providing customers with added incentives to engage with Ola’s services.

Conclusion

Sankalp 2024 marked a significant milestone for Ola, showcasing its continued commitment to innovation and expansion in AI, electric vehicles, and digital services.

With the integration of Krutrim into Ola Electric scooters, the launch of new AI-powered apps, and the venture into AI chip manufacturing, Ola is poised to shape the future of technology in India and beyond.

As these developments unfold, they promise to deliver enhanced experiences for Ola’s customers and drive the company’s growth in the competitive tech landscape.
